Why Workers Need a Shift Group and Current Shift

In this document you will find out why workers need a shift group and current shift in Attendico ATS Cloud. A Worker profile links a real employee or external worker to Attendico’s expected working-time configuration. The employee code identifies the worker for supported registration workflows.

What is this feature used for?

The Group and Current Shift fields are mandatory in the ATS Cloud form. This means setup should proceed in the order: group, shift, worker — not the other way around.

Before you begin

  • Save a group in Shifts and Groups.
  • Save at least one shift inside that group.
  • Have the worker’s name, a valid employee code and the intended worker type available.

Options and fields explained

Group
Selects which scheduling arrangement the worker belongs to.
Current Shift
Selects the worker’s initial or regular shift within that group.
Always Keep This Shift
Removes the worker from group rotation and retains the chosen shift.
Worker Type
Internal or External; an External worker also requires company information.
Status
Whether the worker profile is active.

Step-by-step procedure

  1. Open Shifts and Groups and create the required group if it does not exist.
  2. Save the group, reopen it and create at least one shift.
  3. Open Workers and select Create Worker.
  4. Select the group and a Current Shift from the corresponding list.
  5. If the group rotates, decide whether the worker should rotate or always keep the same shift.
  6. Save the worker only after all mandatory fields are completed.

What happens after saving?

An employee now has the minimum schedule linkage needed for attendance and Planner. NFC cards, connected phones and annual leave can be managed later on the saved profile.

Important notes and common mistakes

  • The worker code must be exactly four digits and cannot be 0000.
