How to Create a Shift Group

In this document you will learn how to create a shift group in Attendico ATS Cloud. Creating a shift group establishes the scheduling container that will later hold the team’s individual shifts. The group itself does not yet define a complete working day.

What is this feature used for?

Use this procedure when introducing a new department, team or scheduling arrangement. You can name the group, add a code and choose its planning approach, then return to add shifts.

Before you begin

  • Administrator access to Shifts and Groups.
  • Decide which employees the group represents and whether their schedules will be fixed, automatically rotated or manually planned.

Options and fields explained

Group Name
A clear title for the workforce group.
Group Code
A stable identifier reflected in historical schedules and attendance snapshots.
Description
Optional explanation for other administrators.
Manual Planning (Russian Rotation)
Enables date-by-date planning in Planner. It does not automatically define one universal Russian rotation.
Rotating Group
Can only be activated later when the group has been saved and has two or more shifts.

Step-by-step procedure

  1. Open Shifts and Groups.
  2. Click Add Group to open Create New Group.
  3. Enter Group Name. Add a descriptive Group Code and Description as applicable.
  4. Review Planning Settings. Enable Manual Planning only if the schedule is intended to be entered per day; otherwise leave it disabled.
  5. Do not attempt to enable rotation at this stage: the UI requires the group to be saved and to contain at least two shifts.
  6. Click Save.
  7. Return to the group overview and open your newly saved group.
  8. Under Shifts in Group, choose Create Shift to define working hours.

What happens after saving?

The saved group becomes available for configuration and can later be assigned to workers. It cannot provide a valid current shift until at least one shift has been created.

Important notes and common mistakes

  • If Create Shift is disabled, save the group first and reopen it.
  • If workers are to rotate automatically, complete all required shift definitions before activating rotation.
