The Rotation Cycle Start is an optional date reference used to align automatic rotation with the desired calendar position. It is not the same setting as a shift’s first working day.
What is this option for?
Use an anchor date when the rotating group must start its sequence on a known date rather than relying on the normal/default calculation reference.
Before you begin
- Create and save the shift group.
- Add at least two shifts, disable Manual Planning, and enable Rotating Group.
Understanding the controls
- Rotation Cycle Start
- Optional cycle anchor.
- By Weeks
- Rotation advances according to a reference weekday and week interval.
- By Days
- Rotation advances according to counted days and optional weekend exclusions.
- Shift Rotation Order
- Controls which shift follows which in the cycle.
Step-by-step instructions
- Open Shifts and Groups and edit the desired group.
- Ensure it has at least two shifts and Rotating Group is enabled.
- Choose the By Weeks or By Days rotation mode.
- Set the applicable rotation interval and mode-specific settings.
- Review the Shift Rotation Order before choosing an anchor.
- Set Rotation Cycle Start to the intended calendar date, or leave it empty to use the application’s default anchor.
- Save the group and open Planner.
- Check multiple dates before and after a rotation boundary to confirm the sequence.
What happens next?
The saved anchor participates in automatic rotation calculation for the group.
Important notes
- A group’s rotation reference must not be confused with First Day of Week inside an individual shift.
- If the expected cycle does not appear, inspect the employee’s Current Shift and fixed-shift setting as well.
