How to Delete a Shift Group Safely

A shift group is the scheduling container that holds one or more shift definitions and determines how its workers are planned. Deleting a group is therefore different from deleting one shift inside it.

What is this option for?

Use this action only when an entire group is obsolete. Because workers and historical assignments can reference the group, investigate those dependencies before attempting deletion.

Before you begin

  • A saved group is visible in Shifts and Groups.
  • Identify all workers assigned to the group and decide where they should be reassigned.

Understanding the controls

Delete Group
Group-level action shown in the group editor.
Confirmation
The dialog identifies the group by name; verify it before approving.
Shifts in Group
The definitions associated with the group, which may have dependencies.

Step-by-step instructions

  1. Open Shifts and Groups and choose the group to remove.
  2. Read Group Data and the Shifts in Group list to confirm you selected the correct team.
  3. Review Workers for employees currently assigned to this group; reassign them where appropriate.
  4. Return to the group editor and select Delete Group.
  5. Read the confirmation dialog, including the group name.
  6. Confirm the deletion only after verifying there are no unintended operational dependencies.
  7. Return to Shifts and Groups and inspect whether the group still appears.

What happens next?

The interface calls the group deletion API and, on success, returns to the group list. A failure is shown as a notification.

Important notes

  • Do not assume that deleting a group also safely reassigns existing workers.
