A shift group is a container for one or more shift definitions. It tells ATS Cloud which working-time patterns belong together and how workers assigned to the group should be scheduled.

What is this feature used for?

Groups are necessary because different teams can work different schedules. A company could have separate groups for office staff and production staff, while individual shifts inside each group define actual working hours. Groups also hold the automatic-rotation or manual-planning setting.

Before you begin

You can create an empty group first; shifts are added only after the group has been saved.

Before adding a worker, create at least one shift inside the group. The worker form requires both a group and a current shift.

Options and fields explained

Group Name

A recognizable group label used throughout the interface.

Group Code

A code retained in historical attendance and schedule snapshots.

Description

Optional context that helps administrators distinguish groups.

Manual Planning

Schedules dates manually in Planner rather than using automatic group generation for all workers.

Rotating Group

Automatically moves workers through a configured sequence of shifts. Rotation and manual-planning choices control how future schedule entries are generated.

Important notes and common mistakes

Do not confuse a shift group with a shift. A group represents the scheduling arrangement; a shift defines working times and calculation settings.

Automatic rotation is disabled when Manual Planning is enabled.

In this document you will learn what shift groups are and why Attendico uses them to organize worker schedules, shift definitions and rotation rules.
